Mike and Carolyn are an awesome couple. From the first time we met they knew exactly what they wanted, but they were really laid back. About 14months before their wedding we met over a few beers and discussed the details of their wedding day (which is still one of my favorite ways to discuss a wedding!). My heart filled with joy as they announced that their reception venue was the Clarion in Downtown Raleigh. This is a gorgeous location, with a real urban appeal to it. It is in the heart of everything Raleigh, and anyone who has spent a Friday night hanging out in Raleigh has undoubtedly walked right past this sweet spot. Its also just a few steps from The Flying Saucer, which is incontestably the best bar within a hundred miles.
Finally their wedding day arrives! They decided to really personalize every aspect of this momentous occasion to fit who they were as a couple so you will see some really cool details. They handmade signs with street names for each table instead of table numbers. On each table was a framed letter describing the significance of this street in their lives together, from the first place they met, to their first date, where they knew they were in love, where he proposed and several other amazing places with all the details to make each table unique. There were so many personal touches like this one, that I just cant list them all. Ok……Back to the wedding. They were married just a few blocks away at a local church, with a beautiful ceremony. Afterwards we took the limo and the entire bridal party for a photo-shooting spree across downtown. You will probably recognize the bridge photo with central Raleigh in the backdrop. We even stopped for a quick beer at The Flying Saucer, before they all finished the tour by walking the last few blocks to the Clarion for an amazing reception.
